Preservation Chapel Hill has a public archives available for researchers.
To access the collections, please visit during our normal business hours.
It is preferable that researchers make an appointment to view materials,
but not required. To make an appointment, please review the finding aid
and email firstname.lastname@example.org with the collections you
wish to view and the date you plan to visit.
Preservation Chapel Hill Records
This collection contains the organizational files of the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill, including documents relating to financial information, Society events, history of the Horace Williams House and the Society, maintenance, personnel, members, and business. This collection also includes materials published by the Society, including newsletters and information about the Town and Gown publication.
Horace Williams House Collection
This collection includes items that are on display in the Horace Williams House.
Art and Concert Records
This collection includes all organizational records relating to art exhibits and music concerts held at the Horace Williams House or sponsored by the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill. Record types include event postcards, committee correspondence, artist resumes, and notes, among others.
Individual Properties Records
This collection contains records relating to individual properties and houses, including historic homes, campus sites, and fraternity and sorority housing. It also contains records relating to historic, local events and trends. Record types include house histories, protective covenants, newspaper clippings, loan documentation, and information about restoration efforts, among other documents.
Neighborhoods and Preservation Efforts Records
This collection contains records relating to neighborhood preservation projects, historic districts, and local events related to preservation. It also contains records relating to preservation guidelines and standards.
