Art Exhibitions at the
Horace Williams House
Local artists’ works are featured at the Horace Williams House several times each year. These exhibitions not only highlight local professionals and support the art community, they also support preservation. Art pieces are offered for sale, and a percentage of the art sales support Preservation Chapel Hill's efforts to preserve the historic Horace Williams House.
If you are an artist wishing to learn more about exhibiting your art at the Horace Williams House, please find submissions information at the bottom of the page.
Preservation Chapel Hill at the Horace Williams House is proud to present its June / July 2021 exhibition by mixed media visual artists Susan Finer and Rachele Riley.
Susan Finer creates highly textured abstract pieces with new and reclaimed fabric, paper and objects, thread and acrylic paint. Inspired by memories of city, shore and woods, her improvised works are the result of the manipulation of her materials –“the ripping, unraveling, and layering of fabric; the stitching and knotting of threads; the printing, dripping and scrapping of paint”. The artist has exhibited widely nationally and her creative process draws on a lifetime of varied work experiences and artistic experimentation.
Rachele Riley’s time based, web based, generative and printed art and design projects question conventions around data, digital spaces, mapping ecologies and virtual representation. Her multi-faceted projects have received national and international acclaim and her career path and writings in academia have given her a high profile in the fields of New Media and Design which she currently teaches at UNC-Greensboro.
That both artists investigate their relationships to analog and digital processes over time has determined the naming of this exhibition “Marking/Time”.
An exhibition not to be missed.
